Iron Infusion

Iron deficiency is when your body’s iron stores are too low. Common causes include not getting enough iron in your diet, chronic blood loss, pregnancy & vigorous exercise. Some foods & drinks affect how much iron your body absorbs.

Iron is an important dietary mineral that is involved in various bodily functions, including the transport of oxygen in the blood. Dietary iron is found in animal & plant foods. Iron deficiency can be treated by adding iron-rich foods to your diet.

If you have iron deficiency anaemia, your GP (doctor) may recommend iron supplements or an Iron Infusion. An Iron Infusion is a simple procedure used to treat iron deficiency by replenishing depleted iron stores with intravenous iron. Iron infusions are performed by a number of our experienced GP’s.

If you feel that you may be iron deficient, make an appointment with one of our friendly GP’s. They will assess & recommend the best course of treatment.

If you have had recent blood tests that confirm you ferritin is low & you require an iron infusion please call the clinic or book online via the HotDoc app. The GP will have an initial discussion consult with you to discuss the iron infusion procedure.

An iron infusion has a private fee.

Ear Wax Removal

One of the most common reasons for temporary hearing loss is a build-up of wax in the ear.

If you have symptoms such as ear pain, itching or fullness, dizziness, tinnitus or a reflex cough you could have an ear wax build up.

Microsuction is a gentle, safe and effective method for removing ear wax. A low pressure suction device is used to safely remove the ear wax / blockage. The procedure is brief and very effective and also assists in resolving and preventing infections.

Dr Hafiz is highly experienced in the safe and effective removal of ear wax using micro suction technology.

An initial consultation with Dr Hafiz is required to assess if the procedure is appropriate.

Our ear wax removal procedure has a private fee of $150.

Therapeutic Venesection

Therapeutic venesection is a minor medical procedure. A small amount of blood is removed from the body, much the same as a blood donation. Venesection is performed to reduce the number of red blood cells or the amount of iron in your blood.

This may be recommended for health conditions such as:

Haemochromatosis (too much iron stored in the body)

Polycythaemia (too many red blood cells)

Other blood disorders where lowering thickness helps reduce risks.

The procedure takes between 15 – 30 minutes. Dr Hafiz performs venesection at Rossiter Road Medical Centre. This is a bulk billing service.

Skin Checks

According to statistics produced by the Anti Cancer Council, Australia has the highest incidents of skin cancer in the world.

An annual skin check is recommended and can be completed by a GP. He/she will monitor the skin and take note of any changes or lesions. Skin cancers can be diagnosed and treated by the doctor. Minor procedures and excisions are performed at the clinic. On some occasions you may be referred to a specialist from our extensive referral base for further treatment.

All of our GP’s provide general dermatology care including management of eczema, dermatitis, rosacea and psoriasis.

Dr Hafiz Tanveer specialises in skin cancer medicine, associated skin procedures & minor surgeries. He has a skin cancer surgery certificate and has also completed training through the RACGP.

Skin checks with Dr Hafiz are bulk billed. Skin procedures may incur private fees.
